April 16 – 18: Dogwood Festival Atlanta 2010
The Dogwood Festival takes place in Piedmont Park and is an entire weekend of live music, fair food, family activities and a huge artists market. The event is free. If you’d like to take the experience up a notch, you can purchase tickets to one of the premiere weekend events like the Friends of Dogwood Pavillion (food and drink from local restaurants, private bathrooms and a place to escape the heat) or La Fete Internationale (a new event celebrating the multicultural influences of the city). There will also be a free showing of the classic film Psycho in the meadow on Saturday night.
Traditional Dogwood festival 2010 Atlanta has started on Friday 16th April. This is the 74th annual dogwood festival starting from 16th April and will end on 18th April 2010. This is the season of dogwood tress and beautiful dogwood trees can be seen everywhere in the festival. The most interesting part of this festival is that it is not a traditional spring festival but it brings with it other colors of joy and happiness as well. This famous and benevolent event would take place in the Piedmont Park.
The most sensational part of the event is its musical show. It is a rare event which brings unique opportunity of quality time along with free entertainment. Yeah the best part of the vent is that one does not only have to watch the trees but can also enjoy comedy skits and music for free. The festival also includes stalls of food, arts and much more.
The timing of the festival is Friday 12 noon to 9pm in the night. Saturday timings are 10pam to 9pm and Sunday 12 noon to 5 pm in the evening.
This is a festival of joy and colors. The comedy skits and the music shows are also free without any additional charges and tickets. Thus one can enjoy many colors in one ticket. Such festivals also seem to educate young children about the trees and the local stars. This event always brings with it the shades and blossom of Dogwood trees along with exciting entertainment.
